I cannot but remember the place that New Jersey holds in our early history. In the early Revolutionary struggle, few of the States among the old Thirteen had more of the battlefields of the country within their limits than old New Jersey.… Away back in my childhood, the earliest days of my being able to read, I got hold of a small book…Weem’s "Life of Washington". I remember all the accounts there given on the battle fields and struggles for the liberties of the country, and none fixed themselves upon my imagination so deeply as the struggle here at Trenton, New Jersey. The crossing of the river, the contest with the Hessians, the great hardhips endured at that time, all fixed themselves on my memory more than any single revolutionary event; and you all know, for you all have been boys, how these early impressions last longer than any others. I recollect thinking then, boy even though I was, that there must have been something more than common that those men struggled for; that something even more than National Independence; that something that held out a great promise to all people of the world to all time to come....  His Excellency, former President and Commander-in-Chief, George Washington (portrayed by David Emerson of History on the Hoof), as he reminisces about his New Jersey Campaigns.

Music for the Holidays:
Two 18th Century Candlelight Concerts at The Old Dutch Parsonage ~ Dec. 16 & 18.
Linda Russell ~ Friday, Dec. 16 ~ 7:30 p.m. ~
Ms. Russell, well-known for her historic musical interpretation, sings seasonal Songs and Ballads of the Colonial era
and plays period instruments including Hammered Dulcimer, Guitar and Tin whistle.
Seating begins at 7 pm.
 
 
Robert Mouland ~ Sunday, Dec. 18 ~ 7:30 p.m. ~
Mr. Mouland plays more than six instruments of the period including English Guitar, Violin, Wire Harp,
Shuttle Pipes, Flageolet and Flute. The Concert includes Popular and Celtic Tunes of the 18th century in the Spirit of Christmas.
Seating begins at 7 pm.

Colonial Christmas Tours at The Wallace House and Old Dutch Parsonage Historic Sites ~ Tours on the Hour from 5 - 8 pm During candlelight tours of The Wallace House and Old Dutch Parsonage. guides in period clothing explain how Christmas was celebrated in the American colonies. Enjoy the holiday atmosphere of these Colonial-era homes, decorated authentically in the 18th century manner to celebrate the season. Invite friends, family and others to enjoy this unique holiday event! Tours available at 5 pm, 6 pm, 7 pm and 8 pm. Refreshments will be served.
All Events: $10 per person. Advance Reservations Required.
